Villa de France

→ Norsk versjon

In the heart of Provence stands an older stone house, which has been renovated into an idyllic holiday home with a large swimming pool.

The plot of over 3 acres bears the marks of a long history with a front garden in late Renaissance style with grazing donkeys on the property. It was important to carry on the garden’s history into the new garden design.

Under the old Plane tree, guests can enjoy late evenings with a fire in the fireplace and pizza from the pizza oven in the new outdoor kitchen.

Breakfast can be enjoyed under a renovated pergola covered with wisteria overlooking the pool. By the pool, there are sun loungers and olive trees in large terracotta pots, as well as a seating area with a roof if you need a break from the sun.

An alley of cypress or almond trees leads you to a conservatory in classical Mediterranean style. When the sun gets too hot, you can retreat here to read or play chess with a fantastic view of the garden. A boules court surrounded by fairy lights and blooming roses was placed at the end of the garden with a fire pit for late evenings of boules.

In the orchard, you can pick whatever fruit, grapes, and nuts you desire. And since we are in the heart of lavender production… why not create your own lavender field with an olive grove?

A holiday home in France also presents challenges with maintenance and drought. Maintenance-free edges, robot mowers, and the redistribution and storage of rainwater were some of the measures we recommended. In addition, all the plants have been carefully selected based on their ability to tolerate drought.

We’re grateful for your trust given to us during this exciting project and look forward to designing new Mediterranean gardens.
